NICK CYWINK Potowatami / Odawa / Ojibwa Nick Cywink was born and raised in Ontario, Canada. His beginnings for artistic expression are connected to his youth, where he shared the lifeways of his people, and their intimate living with the natural world. His art takes shape in the honor o these sacred grounds we walk upon. It originates from the earth where the spirit of the elders speak. The beautiful backdrops for Nick’s imagery are individually unique. They are… Rose Quartz and the translucent Agate revealing painted lakes, forests and wildlife; Birch Tree Skins folded into frameworks and coated with the natural hues of scenes they once sheltered; Pure Quarry Rock pressed nto distinctive shapes and vividly transformed into the face of an elder, or the hand of a child, and the flowing waterfalls of the earth. Each on represents its own history, and as such, carries its own voice. Nick’s hand-painted original artworks are precious “One-of-a-Kind” collector items. The mark of his craftsmanship is the native singing of an ancient prayer, towards the continued reign of beauty in our modern world. Nick Cywink Originals are on display at stores and Art Galleries across the United States and Canada. Featured advertisements of his canvas originals and limited editioin prints can be found in Native Peoples Magazine. As a visiting artist, Nick can be seen at local galleries and stores, providing his demonstrations and workshops.
